In Richmond, two of our franchisees, Rick Popio of Outdoor Lighting Perspectives and Jeff Labrecque of Conserva Irrigation , have come together to support their local community.
The Giving Garden
Since 2011, the Salisbury Presbyterian Church “Giving Garden” has been a beacon of hope for many in the Richmond area. The garden annually yields over 1,000 pounds of fresh vegetables, which is harvested by community members and then distributed locally. Recipients like St. Mathias and Broken Loaves benefit from this produce, ensuring nutritious food reaches those in need.
Despite having the land and a desire to grow more, the garden’s potential was limited by its 1,600-square-foot size.
Enter Jeff and Rick
Inspired by the Giving Garden’s mission, Jeff generously contributed his irrigation services to support their growth. With his assistance, the garden was able to expand to an impressive 3,000 square feet. Jeff reached out to his local network, and Rick eagerly joined the cause, bringing his expertise in outdoor lighting to ensure the garden remained a safe and welcoming space even after dusk.
A Testament to Community and Collaboration
“We are incredibly thankful for Jeff and Rick and the services they provided in expanding our Giving Garden,” said Dr. Jim King, Senior Pastor of Salisbury Presbyterian Church. “Their contribution will have a lasting impact, enabling the garden to grow over a ton of produce annually. This produce will help address the issue of food scarcity that many in our community face.”
